Introducing: Jack’s Race Across the World
We’re excited to launch a brand-new blog series following Jack Ashworth as he embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure across the globe.
After being granted a sabbatical by Burton Copeland, Jack is swapping courtrooms for camper vans, and case files for cultural experiences, as he travels across continents with his own version of a “Race Across the World”.
In this series, Jack will be sharing honest, unfiltered updates from the road—the highs, the challenges, and everything in between. From unexpected travel disruptions to spontaneous decisions and life on the move, this is a real insight into what it’s like to step away from routine and explore the unknown.
Jack’s Race Across the World – Part 1 begins not quite as planned…
The trip around the world started not as expected! Conflict in the Middle East meant our flights to Japan were cancelled- all reservations at quite the financial cost on a paralegal wage!
We had to come up with an alternative. We instead decided to change the order of our trip and visit Europe first. With flights to Madrid found for £20 they were booked there and then.
Next decision -life on the road in a camper van to explore parts of Spain we never would normally see. Van pick up in Madrid with a drop off 5 weeks later in Barcelona with no plan in between. Living life.
Van life though is interesting to say the least. No running water and the electricity was a nightmare to sort out but that’s part of the fun.
I do miss the routine that employment provides and of course I miss my colleagues at Burton Copeland so do keep in touch when I have WiFi! 1st world problems hey!
Envious that I’ll be missing the fun of the Manchester 10k run. Go Team BC. Youth and experience are a winning combination. Well done Damian, Lucy and Dan (leading from the front?)
I am back in the UK for a brief period in June so will drop in to see them before my next adventure.
