Sending out an S.U.S. (and no- that’s not a typo!)

At Burton Copeland, we’re proud to support our local community in any way we can. This month, we’re opening our offices as a collection point for school uniforms as part of an initiative to donate uniforms to families who are struggling with rising costs.

Life is challenging for many families right now. Rising interest rates, fuel and energy costs, the price of food and rent- the list seems endless. For parents, the cost of raising children has never been higher, and something as simple as buying school uniforms can put an extra strain on already stretched budgets.

That’s why we’re asking for your help. We’re collecting outgrown, but still good, school clothes please, including School Coats, Uniforms, and Shoes (S.U.S)

We’re looking for good quality used school uniforms and accessories for children aged 4–11, including:

  • Trousers and shorts
  • Shirts, polo shirts, and dresses
  • Pinafores, skirts, jumpers, and cardigans (preferably without specific school logos)
  • Warm coats
  • Shoes in good, wearable condition

If you have school uniforms that children have grown out of, please consider donating them. Instead of being thrown away or left unused, these items could make a real difference to families in need.

As Yvonne explains: “Many of us remember that special moment before the first day of school: uniforms hanging neatly in the wardrobe, shiny new shoes lined up, and a freshly chosen pencil case waiting to be filled. Sadly, not every child today gets to experience that excitement.

We all see the stories about food banks, rising poverty, and families forced to make impossible choices between heating and eating. We can’t solve everything, but together we can make a dent – no matter how small – in the effects of child poverty.”

Whether your child’s uniform came from George, M&S, Nutmeg, Next, or even Harrods, your donation will be received with gratitude.
