Burton Copeland Price and Service Information

The SRA Transparency Rules require solicitors to publish material concerning specified areas, this should include information on pricing and the services offered. The aim is to ensure consumers have the facts they need to make an informed choice of legal services provider, including understanding the costs that may be involved.

One such specified area is the defence of motor prosecutions, a field in which Burton Copeland are considered to be leaders.

Burton Copeland’s expert solicitors would seek to identify fundamental issues in your case and provide expert advice. It is not always possible to give exact figures, given the number of variables in progressing a case but we can provide reasonable estimates. Costing will usually depend on the nature of the allegation, amount of time spent dealing with the case and the seniority of the solicitor. Detailed below are the hourly rates for our specialist solicitors;

Solicitor Seniority Hourly Rate
Grade A (Solicitors and legal executives with over 8 years’ experience) £365 + VAT (at 20%)
Grade B (Solicitors and legal executives with over 4 years’ experience) £325 + VAT (at 20%)
Grade C (Other solicitors, legal executives and fee earners of equivalent experience) £285 + VAT (at 20%)
Grade D (Trainee solicitors, paralegals and other fee earners) £210 + VAT (at 20%)

These rates are for attendance, preparation and advocacy. Travel and waiting are charged at half the above rate, plus disbursements. Disbursements will typically include mileage and parking or public transport costs.

Please see ‘our people’ for details of the available fee earners and supervisors.

By way of a typical example, dealing with a guilty plea for a drink driving offence in a local Court.

2 hours attendance/preparation including;

  • considering evidence/disclosure
  • taking your instructions
  • providing advice of plea, sentence and procedure
  • 1 Hour attending/advocacy at Court
  • 1 Hour travel to and from Court

Obviously no two cases are identical but these times are a simple illustration of what could be expected. For those wishing to avoid the uncertainty concerning costs, fixed fees can be discussed.
