Crown Indemnity – Supposed to offer GP’s Protection but can lead to a Fitness to Practise Investigation.

As previously set out in our article about Crown Indemnity for GPs (CNSGP) which explains what is a Clinical Negligence Scheme for General Practise (CNSGP) and what does it cover? This scheme covers clinical negligence claims for treatment provided on the NHS but it does not and will not cover criminal investigations, a coroner’s inquest, regulatory (GMC) issues, a complaint to the ombudsman from a patient, or a clinical negligence claim arising from private or fee-paying work.

When the terms ‘modern slavery’ and ‘human trafficking’ for most it will conjure up images of people being trafficked into the country by Gangmasters to work in the sex industry or being forced to work in a factory for long hours often in a dangerous environment and living in terrible conditions.

Nhs midwife exonerated by nmc after long interim suspension

An experienced and well regarded NHS midwife who was transferred to clerical duties and suspended for 3 years following a complaint that she had performed an episiotomy without consent has been cleared of all charges by a Tribunal at the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
