Burton Copeland staff raise £100’s in children’s toys for Key 103’s cash for kids appeal

The idea was the brain child of employee Sarah Read who heard the appeal on her favourite radio show and urged the bosses and staff at Burton Copeland to take part.

Over the past few weeks all of the staff have been purchasing extra presents, begging family members and friends to also get on board and take part. Today the fruits of their labour were revealed when all of the toys and gifts were collected at our office.

Mother of two young children, Sarah said;

“It is such a worthwhile charity, the thought of an under privileged child in this region waking up on Christmas day without any presents is sickening and when I heard of the appeal i knew i had to get involved. I’m just so happy that my colleagues all have been so generous and we can hopefully make a difference and put a smile on the faces of so many children on Christmas day with everything we have managed to collect”.

The charity raised over £2 million in 2015 and are hoping to raise far more this year. In addition to the gift collection Sarah has also arranged a Christmas jumper day with cash donations by members of staff and also has other ideas for a final push to raise extra cash before Christmas.

Today we decided to make the delivery of the presents a bit special by recruiting Santa to deliver them for us direct to Key 103 headquarters in Castlefield.

“Santa certainly put a few smiles on faces as he arrived in reception, the staff were brilliant and were really appreciative of our efforts and i’ll like to pass them on to all of those who have assisted us in this great cause, anybody reading this who has not taken part, I would urge you to please get involved”

If you haven’t yet got involved you don’t have long to get gift to the collections points, details can be found on the Key 103 cash for kids page here. (Donations are now closed, thanks for all that contributed)
