Nicola Cooney

Solicitor

Nicola joined Burton Copeland as a solicitor in September 2025. She has a first class degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a Masters of Law. 

In 2022, Nicola joined a Criminal Law firm in Manchester City Centre and worked on a variety of complex cases including attempt murder, rape, causing death by dangerous driving, POCAs and conspiracy to supply class A drugs, in particular representing clients who were charged as a result of encro chat data. 

Nicola has significant experience working closely with senior barristers and various experts to ensure that clients have a robust and organised defence ahead of trial. Throughout her studies and career, she has focused solely on defending clients in criminal matters and aims to one day hold higher rights of audience.
